Digital Verification Certificates (DVCs)
The Digital Verification Certificate (DVC) is a digital representation of the traditional verification certificate (Eichschein) and serves as standardised proof of a measuring instrument’s successful verification. Conceptually, it is based on the standardised certificate structure of the Digital Calibration Certificate (DCC) and applies its semantic and structural principles to the field of legally regulated verification.
The aim of the DVC is to provide uniform and machine-readable documentation of verification results and to enable their digital processing, particularly with regard to the monitoring of verification validity.
In addition to device-specific information – such as manufacturer, type, serial number, verification date and validity period – the DVC also records test-relevant metadata in a structured manner, including the test procedures applied and the conformity assessment.
The recorded data is converted by a conversion programme into a standardised XML format based on DCC semantics and can thus be efficiently integrated into digital quality and documentation processes.
