Digital Metrological Expert

DME (Software for digital key comparisons)

Our new software Digital Metrological Expert (DME), currently under development, is a software tool that processes and analyses measurement data from round-robin comparisons. The aim is to replace the current paper-based process with a fully digital approach.

Key facts:

  • The DME assesses data, suggests appropriate processing, data analysis and statistical methods (e.g. data verification, preprocessing, hypothesis testing, reference value calculation) and provide results in machine-readable reports.
  • The DME increases efficiency, reduces errors in manual data transfer, increases consistency and reproducibility of key comparison's evaluation, and supports metrology experts in data processing.
  • The DME is part of a wider system that utilizes Digital Calibration Certificates (DCCs) to store and communicate measurement data. This digital workflow is referred to as the Digital Key Comparison Report (DKCR). Its architecture allows for interoperability and integration with existing and yet to come digital systems.
  • The DKCR is the result of a mapping process to meet the data content required in a comparison report, reusing the DCC XML schema.
  • The DME automates routine tasks, exchange machine-readable information and enable the application of AI methods.
