DCC-Launch 2027
From 1 January 2027, the pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim will only accept DCCs as certificates for the 150,000 calibrations carried out annually by its 60 external calibration laboratories. This marks the definitive end of the paper/PDF era in this area of the company.
PTB and DKD will provide every conceivable support to achieve this ambitious goal.
To this end, DCCs for the following measurands have to be completed by autumn 2026:
- Thermocouples (DKD FA 05)
- Absolute pressure gas (DKD FA 06)
- Positive / negative overpressure gas (DKD FA 06)
- Volume flow / liquid (DKD FA 11)
- Volume flow / gaseous (DKD FA 11)
- Measuring instruments for electrical conductivity (DKD FA 08)
- Measuring instruments for pH (DKD FA 08)
- Differential pressure
- Length measuring instruments
- Length measuring devices
- Mass flow of flowing liquids
- Mass flow of flowing gases
Completed and ready to use:
- Gauge Blocks
- Measuring instruments for relative humidity
- Resistance thermometers
- Flow Quantities
PTB will initially support this endeavour with additional resources for the period from March 2026 to the end of 2027.
Therefore, once the Boehringer Ingelheim project has been completed on 31 December 2026, this support will be available from 1 January 2027 for both internal and external parties interested in a DCC for additional measurands.
This is a particularly fortunate circumstance for both PTB and DKD, as that means that DCCs for 15 new measurands will be made available to all parties interested within and beyond PTB in the next couple of months.
